Barrow & Gwinnett: Speech and Debate Opportunities
Do you want your child to be able to effectively communicate? Defend their faith? Think critically? Do you need a strong extracurricular activity for your child’s high school transcript? Would you like an activity for your kids that will make a huge difference for their future, whatever their path? Competitive Speech and Debate is what you are looking for. Come learn the secret to getting your teen to love learning and even research. Don’t pass on incorporating these key elements in your homeschool!
EAGLES Home Educators is entering their 6th year of a competitive Speech and Debate team. While an existing club we will be taking a brand new approach this year, especially in certain areas.
Speech and debate starts at 12 years old as of Jan. 1.
This is not a debate or speech class per se but rather a CLUB (I offer classes in debate and speech through Summit Academy Dacula on Fridays at 1 and 2 PM www.summitacademy.net).
This is not a drop off program. It’s expected that the parents will be their ultimate teacher and very involved in order for the child to do well in this activity. However, it is not necessary for the parents to be experts in this area, since we as club directors and other returning parents and guest speakers are here to inform, encourage and instruct.
We compete in BOTH NCFCA(ncfca.org) and Stoa (stoausa.org) competitive leagues. Families do not have to commit to both leagues but will need to commit to compete in AT LEAST 2 competitions in the school year and attend class regularly.
Speech and dramatic interps will meet once a month @ Church at Winder on Tues. mornings
