Is that time of the year again!!  Time to start planning for next years activities.  This will be our 5th consecutive year of SciOly. ((But our 9th year in total!)

We are excited to be starting another year of Science Olympiad!  To kick off the year we are having an informational meeting. Everyone is invited if they would like to participate on our Science Olympiad teams this year or even learn more to make an educated decision.
Meeting DATE: Tuesday, May 6th, 1 pm
LOCATION:  Church at Winder Youth House
    • The Refuge Youth Center
    • 559 Treadwell Road
    • Bethlehem, GA 30620
Please let us know if you are attending so we can expect you.  Also note that there will be a meeting for competitive Speech & Debate at 2:30.  (Another great program!)
Some things to consider  (About our Science Olympiad Teams)
    • You must be a traditional homeschool family  (National rules – not ours) As long as you turn in a Deceleration of Intent all is well!
    • This is a major commitment !! Plan to follow through.  Our season runs from late August – Mid March.
    • This year we will have Elementary, Middle and High School competitive teams.  However your child must be in 2nd grade or above to participate in Science Olympiad.
    • This is a competitive team co-op and not open to those not planning to participate on the teams and attend competitions.
    • Parents are required to be involved – helping coach, plan etc.
    • We meet on Tuesdays at the Church at Winder Youth House. You (Parents & students) are expected to stay the entire practice and participate. We do not know the exact times yet.
    • Returning students will have first pick of study areas.
    • The cost per family will be $85 for the year (the base fee) plus $15 per student participating & the Eagles fee -per family of $20 this year.  Families with ONLY elementary students get a 50% discount on the base fee.  We do pay for our meeting location, cover cost of competitions, provide some supplies.  This fee covers August – Feb / March.  (end date is dependent on how teams preform at regional.) The calendar will be available at the first meeting.
    • COLLEGES LOVE to see SciOLy on transcripts!
    • Our Elementary team came in 7th at regional this year.  Our Middle school team came in 2nd at regional and 7th at state.  Our High School team came in 7th at regional.  Our middle school team has been to state the past 3 years!
    • Competitions are on Saturdays.
