We will study author Jean Craighead George’s craft in the literary classic My Side of the Mountain. With an emphasis on clear and coherent writing, this class will provide literary tools for the student to reflect and write critically on challenging texts. Get your survivor on and join Sam on this adventure!

    Color My World

Ever wonder about the science behind color?  In this class, we’ll explore hands-on color theory activities and art projects.  Learn about the world of color as we study the color wheel, the color spectrum and light.  We’ll study how our eyes see color as well as the various “color families” that comprise the color wheel.  Each week, to practice what we’ve learned, we’ll create our own color-themed art projects in several different media–watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel and colored pencil to name a few.  We’ll even learn about different famous artists that are well known for their color choices in their art, such as van Gogh, Monet, and Cezanne.  Roll up your sleeves and get ready for some colorful fun!
