**We have 13 spots left for the PSAT. To register, please contact Dawnn Murray. Contact information is below. (Number correct as of this morning)

Northeast Independent Prep Academy (NIPA) is offering the PSAT to the homeschooling community again this year. Please read the e-mail below in its entirety if you are interested. Please contact Dawnn Murray to receive the registration application.

The PSAT is a national standardized test. This exam is open to students in grades 9 – 11. Eleventh grade is the ONLY grade in which your student can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. The other years are great practice and give your child an opportunity to become familiar with taking timed tests in a large group setting. This exam currently counts towards Georgia’s home education requirements for standardized test administration to your student(s).

The test will be administered at Pine Lake Baptist Church, 4528 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30087.

Please do NOT call the church office for directions or information about the PSAT. They will not have answers to questions about the test. If you have any questions, please email me at:latrise_2@yahoo.com. (It reads latrise underscore 2)

Please make sure that you are at Pine Lake Baptist Church at 7:30 a.m. as that is when check-in begins! Your student will need two number two pencils and a photo I. D. No I. D., no entry. I know that there will be many kids that have no official I.D. In these situations I will need to see identification from a parent or the adult who will be dropping off the student. NO CELL PHONES are allowed in the testing room. Cell phones will be collected at the door and placed in a secure spot during test time. Your child may bring a drink in a container WITH A TOP! A small snack is also acceptable.

The test will begin PROMPTLY at 8 am. If you arrive late, you will not be allowed admittance. The PSAT/NMSQT offers scholarships based on these test scores and it is disruptive to allow students to enter late.

Upon receipt of your payment AND registration form (see below) I will send out a Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT. In that booklet you will find in-depth information regarding the test; websites that offer more information; test taking tips and practice tests. I encourage you to read through the booklet. Another site for you to use (which you can access without receipt of the booklet) iswww.collegeboard.com/psat. Here you will find sample questions and practice test answer explanations.

Your check for the $30 testing fee is to be made out to: N I P A
Mail your check along with the attached completed form to:

Dawnn Murray (please remember that the check is made out to NIPA, not me)
    2085 Teal Cove
    Lithonia, GA. 30058

In the booklet you will see that the cost of the test is $14 (testing as a public school student in a public school). We charge $30. All costs associated with the exam come out of that fee. Those costs are: paying the proctors and postage related expenses (mailing the booklets then the scores to you). We make NO profit from this exam. If there is any money remaining after the costs associated with administration of the exam, we give that money as a love offering to the church for allowing us to use their facility.

Test DATE: Wednesday, 16 OCT 2013.
    ARRIVAL TIME: 7:30am
    START TIME: 8am

If you know someone in the home educating community who would like to take this exam, please pass along this email. Each year I hear those stories of frustration where families have tried to test with the public schools and have either had a hard time getting in, or more often than not, are not allowed to test at all.

I will send e-mails periodically so make sure you check your e-mails often.

If you have further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or email me.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
